We were leaving the Akram Khan show via the side exit and in the process of hanging their next exhibition… was a great flurry of ants creeping up the side of the wall and over the ceiling. Not a sight to forget!
Now open to the public you can see this great swarm of giant ants invade the gallery walls inside The Lowry in an extraordinary installation created by Colmbian artist Rafael Gómezbarros from the Saatchi Gallery, London. He explores ideas of displacement and immigration, as the ants are assembled from two human skull casts invoking thoughts of life and death… powerful stuff. Go see it!
