Its amazing how my mind works. Since watching a beauty video online yesterday, it suddenly came to me that I could add an extra dimension in my paintings by using nail polish. I really wanted to integrate some vavoom and sparkle onto the top of my already vibrant mixed-media canvases.

I dove straight in and grabbed my favourite purple glitter polish. By raiding my bedside table drawer this morning I had a fantastic range of colours to choose from. Adding hints of bright nail colour on top of my dynamic compositions has added another dimension to my work which should continue to make it even different to other paintings out there.

Its definitely worth trying out new and wacky ideas. Even if they don’t work out, you can move on and do something else. And if it does, then you can go even bigger and better. So go on and experiment, things that are lying right next to you even now could turn out to be the most (im)perfect method you’ve ever carried out…
