Last night was a great time to join in the preview evening at Castlefield Gallery. Thirty years on and celebrating a prestigious and well established place in Manchester art history. I’ve been part of their CG Associates scheme for over a year now and one of the reasons why I love this gallery so much is its continued efforts in supporting and nurturing artists like myself.
Since its inception in 1984 they have been engaged with new and now, prestigious artists. A
cornerstone for exciting and original contemporary art, they have withstood trials and tribulations to become a foundation for intriguing contemporary discussion within the fields of painting, sculpture, video and performance.
Now that conceptual artist and Manchester based, Ryan Gander, has been newly installed as Patron for the Gallery there are many exciting times ahead for its future thirty years.
Nominated artists include: Josh Bitelli and Felix Melia; Hannah Clayden; Jay Delves; Kathryn Elkin; Samuel Fouracre; Danny Fox; Timothy Foxon; Evan Ifekoya; Sam Keogh; John Henry Newton; Yelena Popova; Evangelia Spiliopoulou; Nye Thompson; Finbar Ward and Thomas Yeomans.
Here are a selection of photos from ’30 years in the Future’ preview. On now at the Castlefield Gallery, 2 Hewitt Street, Manchester until 1st February 2015.
