My journey: Other arty projects niggling at my side

Jun 28, 2016 | Posted by jennysd | creativity, experimentation, goals, imagination, inspiration | 0 comments |

You know when you have an itch you can’t scratch. Well I’ve got a few of them and I’ve had them for a while now. Unfinished projects that I started and gave up on. They seemed a fantastic idea at the time but then they fell by the wayside when perhaps they got a little too hard or I seemed to lose impetus.

Perhaps now the ‘inflammation’ (of the itch btw) has subsided (excuse my metaphors!) and I feel the need to rediscover some of these projects. Without giving too much away, they both combine my loves of art, fashion, vintage, comedy and writing but also bearing in mind my fears to do with health and self-image.

Like a fever burning inside of me I feel the real need to express myself with these projects and so
over the next few months I will finally pluck up the self-confidence to express sides of me that I haven’t shown publicly. And I don’t expect a big fanfare when I release them. Except that within me I’ll know I’ve finally completed some of the things I’ve wanted to achieve for a while (write a book… albeit an illustrative one) and try doing some customised fashion (maybe it was that job interview for New Look that I wasn’t brave enough to go to after I left University that has left its mark¿¿¿).

Up a ladder!

All I know is that I will have a happier soul by the end of the year and maybe this will free up more of my mind to focus on the other parts of my artistic life as well as lead me to other opportunities.

To finish, here’s a quote I’ve seen before but I spotted it again recently and I instantly knew I was on the right track, even if I’m not sure which track that is most of the time!

“Follow your bliss … If you do follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in your field of bliss, and they open doors to you. I say, follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”
