A New Year interview to see me into 2016
Job: Artist and Blogger
Home: Warrington (stuck as I can’t choose between Liverpool & Manchester)
Astrological sign: Taurus
My top 3 goals for 2016 are to create more new work, eat healthily to improve my health and energy levels, and get married!
What are you working on right now? I’m working on a few new streams of ideas that I want to develop into new paintings – from traditional painting and techniques to natural dyeing and tie-dying methods. I love learning new concepts and trying them in my work, I’m very keen on mixed media.
My favourite recent discovery is Wahaca mexican restaurant in Covent Garden… a mecca for quirky, tapas-style street food, with amazing spicy ginger beer and little packs of chilli seeds to plant at home, wonderful!
Something I’ve always wanted to do is to go rally driving or scuba diving with sharks
My top food is an all-natural, zingy avocado and lime cheesecake
Somewhere I’ve always wanted to go is to go back to Asia. I absolutely love to travel and my list of places to visit is endless but there’s something about Thailand, with its amazing people, food, buddhas, beaches and limestone karsts that I just have to experience again. But I could be tempted to try Mexico or the Caribbean.
Currently reading: books on Barbara Rae and Georgia O’Keefe, as well as ‘Kitty Peck & the Music Hall Murders’ – I love a bit of silly adventure.
My resolutions are important to me as I want to further myself all the time. This year I’ve had three solo exhibitions and I’d like to continue this success but a little further afield. To keep up my studio practice is my main priority, keep photographing and keep writing. Keep being involved with the artist community and blogging about what everyone’s doing. Collaboration would be interesting to try and I’m starting an animation course so using my bright yellow retro 80s tv is a must do.
I predict the next big thing will be the Sixties… again! I love this trend.
Currently on my mind: Roaring fires, my mum’s Boxer dog Bonnie wagging her tail constantly and my Fiance and mine’s new wedding website… our guests will need to know where they’re going!
Happy New Year!
