The slick, pastel colour-hued paintings by artists represented by Manchester-based contemporary art gallery, Bureau, catch my eye as soon as I walk upstairs to the third floor gallery area. There’s a plethora of art dotted around the space with additional elements of archival film, photography and a rectangular sculptural intervention also from artist collective, TOAST. Together they combine to create a curious installation with several levels of pictorial information and symbolism at your grasp, embodying current references within contemporary art to engage the senses.
Just one of many Pavilions organised by Warrington Arts Festival as part of ‘NORTH’, it provides another chance to see both regional and nationally represented artists. And hopefully not a one-off.
BUREAU artists: Matthew Denniss, Mark Levene, Aaron Rawcliffe, Assunta Ruocco
TOAST artists: James Ackerley, Kameron Ali, Robin Broadley, Carly Bainbridge, Juliet Davies, Amy Lawrence, Monty, Alex Morrison, Helen Newman
