Art auction in aid of Standing Rock

With so much going on in the world at the moment its important to remember the causes that really matter… and there’s a lot of them so I was really pleased to donate a piece of artwork for my friend’s Auction night in aid of Standing Rock.

It was a fantastic event bringing local Manchester artists together to showcase their work and give people the opportunity to pick up a unique or limited edition piece of artwork. Together they raised £560 and donated $330 to the Sacred Stone Legal Defense and $335.00 to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.

There are still over 1000 Water Protectors camping at Standing Rock in opposition to the construction of the North Dakota Access Pipeline and now that Trump seems to have reversed the decision to stop the pipeline drilling. This money will contribute to practical supplies and general operating costs needed at the camp.

Let’s hope there’s a successful and peaceful end to finding the right solution for the Dakota Tribe, and everyone else (plus birds and animals) who depend on safe, clean drinking water.
